This backer rod is a soft, bi-cellular, off-gassing-free, pliable support material for construction joints and sealant applications. It acts as a depth control for most cold-applied sealants and also helps the sealant achieve the optimal hourglass shape. Sealants will not adhere to it; no bond breaker is required. This is why the soft backer rod is a popular choice.

The soft backer rod is particularly suitable for applications with irregular and variable joint widths where standard closed-cell backer rods are not appropriate and where bubbling issues are critical. The soft backer rod can also be used in place of standard closed-cell backer rods in most applications.
